To encourage debate on sustainability in construction, Tata Steel and Pauley Creative have collaborated on a series of podcasts where experts in construction and sustainability talk to people both inside and outside construction to share ideas. They discuss what sustainability means, and the future impact of decisions that are made with today’s sustainability goals in mind. We welcome any and all constructive feedback on these episodes. At the end of the conversation, we’ll give you the website address where you can go to contribute.

In this podcast, Sienna, a year 8 student learning about climate change in school, talks to an expert in sustainability, Barry Rust, who works for Tata Steel, about some of the things that interest her about climate change and the environment. Sienna has been learning about greenhouse gases and fossil fuels, landfill, and how climate change is impacting our planet and has a personal interest in renewable energy sources and how we can generate power without taking from the earth.

While more and more people want to act and have a positive impact on the climate, they often need support to do so. Many of them aren’t sure what to do, or how to start changing the way they work. When there is guidance available, it can be confusing or even contradictory. It’s important to take time, where time is needed, to get the right information in place so that we can all learn together.

The conversation that develops explores climate change, resource use and recycling, and a whole life perspective from the eyes of the generation who could be impacted the most unless change is enacted today.
